Journey-or-Not Charity Relay
Literacy Orange will once again be the beneficiary of The Journey-Or-Not Charity Team Relay will be held at 5 PM on Saturday June 25th, which is the showcase event of the third day of the Middlesex County Horse Show. The relay will consist of 12 or more teams of two riders – one professional and one amateur. The first rider will complete the power section of the course, after which their teammate will ride the same horse through the speed section following a rider swap. Literacy Orange and the Journey-or-Not program will receive a portion of all proceeds from this race. By donating to this event, you can help ensure that this year’s relay is our most successful yet.
Following the event, Literacy Orange will host an exhibitors party. If you are interested in attending please RSVP using the link above.
Literacy Orange will be conducting classes in “Women & Financial Literacy,”
“In the United States, an estimated 30 million people over the age of sixteen read no better than the average elementary school child.”
Literacy Orange is a volunteer based adult literacy provider formed through a merger of Literacy Volunteers of Eastern Orange County (LVeoc) and Literacy Volunteers of Western Orange County (LVWOC). On this website you can find information on our programs and services, how to become a volunteer, how to contact us, and news of our current events. GET FINANCIALLY FIT IN 2016
Classes are now forming for the next session of Literacy Orange’s Women’s Financial Literacy course.
Our Financial Literacy classes will cover all the information needed to take control of your financial future, from banking basics to budgeting tips, and will feature local financial professionals and course alumni who will share their expertise and experiences with you. Building wealth is not just for the well-to-do. By using the Hands-On Banking modules participants will become empowered and mindful shoppers, learn how to buy a home to grow their money and learn how to budget so they can stay in their home.
Applications are due by January 15th, 2016. This class will meet monthly at a time and place to be announced, and will include a defensive driving course on a Saturday to be determined. Tuition is free, however students are responsible for a $30 fee to cover the cost of the defensive driving class.
Literacy Orange is also a proud partner of the Hudson Valley CA$H Coalition (Creating Assets $avings and Hope) which supports the AARP Tax-Aide Program. This program provides free tax preparation on simple returns for low and middle-income families and individuals in Orange and Dutchess Counties.
